: Aloha Uncle Charlie,
: I found your excellent website. I support Hawaiian sovereignty and
: am interested in its culture and natural history. I am also like Serge
: King's Aloha International site.

: I recently bought two small figurines at Kailua-Kona farmers market.
: I was told one was of "Makua", which I presume is Lono-makua.
:
: The other
: has the tall headdress or hair, and the name I got was "OTOMATA". I have
: been unable to find such a name in any list of gods or in dictionaries.
: I have tried substituting K for I, and AU for O, but with no luck.
: I would be very grateful if you could give me any information on such
: a name.

Aloha Riley, I am happy to you enjoy my site. As far as King's site is
concerned, we have a lot like him in Hawaii. Non Hawaiians trying to teach
our culture in a western concept. Just like all the books that was written by
non Hawaiians about us. I really can't fathom their focus other then making
money from our culture. Well getting to your questions about the akua
(gods). I would never try to answer your questions without seeing the ki'i
(images). There are so many gods and aumakua(personal gods) that only the
person who owns it would know the name. To even try and impart a name to an
image is a spiritual insult. Best it not have a name if you dont know what it
is. I wish I could be more specific but under the circumstances, thats about
the best I can do. Aloha Uncle Charlie
